Wellington Water and Greater Wellington are working to replace the aging bulk water main that crosses te Awa Kairangi / Hutt River at the road bridge connecting Fergusson Drive to SH2 bridge at Silverstream. The ageing and deteriorating pipe that will be replaced is part of a pipeline which supplies all of Porirua City’s drinking water, Stokes Valley and up to 40% of Wellington City’s water.

We are planning to build a new, more resilent bridge and bulk water main across the river slightly downstream of the current road bridge, which will include new cycleway and pedestrian pathway to cross te Awa Kairangi.
